Kathryn,

Thanks so much for posting the link to the cost analysis of transgender health benefits (THB). I knew about San Francisco's experience with their coverage, which resulted in a drastic reduction of the per employee cost of THB after having a few years of actual experience. This study, however, is much more comprehensive and rigorous and is exactly the kind of information that employee benefits professionals at our workplaces are likely to find persuasive when considering whether to offer such benefits to their employees. I already know at least one friend who can make good use of this paper to aid her attempts in convincing her employer (a city with an ordinance banning discrimination based on gender identity or expression) to provide such benefits to her and other trans employees.

I too enjoyed the Town Hall teleconference and believe that it is this kind of networking and exchange of ideas that will lead to coordinated, productive and widespread action to change the treatment of trans women and men in the world today.

Blessings,
Abby

P.S. I edited your comment to insert the links to the cost analysis and your own page to make access to those resources easier for those who find your post.

Thank Khyri. I also posted a link on my page to the article on the cost of trans benefits. It is an excellent analysis written by Mary Ann Horton a few years ago . Anyone who is interested in the true cost of benefits for trans people should check it out, the extra cost is extremely low.

Thanks for the excellent review, Kathryn. I wasn't able to be on the call myself, so it was great to be able to read about the topics discussed so soon after the town hall conference ended. I have several friends for whom this information is critical, and I'll be making sure they read this, and the articles you linked to.

Good write-up!
